Aromatic Description: The aroma is spicy and warm but is not particularly sweet by itself. In blends it can add a subtle sweetness. Fragrance professionals like Arctander describe the scent as slightly woody and similar to nutmeg and cardamom. He also compares it to tea tree, pointing out similar notes.
Blends well with: bergamot, cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, eucalyptus, and tea tree. Try it in a relaxing blend of 3:2:1 lavender, roman chamomile and marjoram.
Safety precautions: Avoid during pregnancy.
Common Uses: Aching muscles, amenorrhea, bronchitis, chiliblains, colic, coughing, excessive sex drive, flatulence, hypertension, muscle cramps, neuralgia, rheumatism, sprains, strains, stress, ticks. Seems to work as an anti-snore aid when I place a drop on my husband’s pillow at night as well!
Other information: Natural constituents include linalool, methyl chavicol, Cineol, eugenol and terpineol. Steam distillation of the flowering plant yields less than half a percent. The plant is native to Asia and Africa but is cultivated extensively throughout Europe and the US.
