Sodium Hydroxide, also called lye or caustic soda, is a staple ingredient in the soap making process, afterall, you cannot make true soap without lye.  You cannot achieve liquid soap with this product, you need Potassium Hydroxide instead.

Precautions:  Sodium hydroxide is considered a dangerous good and is extremely corrosive and great care should be taken when handling the product.  Gloves, goggles, long sleeve shirts and vinegar are all necessary equipment when handling this product.  The corrosive properties are activated when it is introduced to wetness and it can and will cause severe chemical burns if in contact with the skin.  Vinegar or any other acidic liquid, will neutralize the NaOH if an accidental spill or contact occurs.  *DO NOT USE AROUND CHILDREN OR PETS!  STORE WHERE CHILDREN AND PETS CANNOT COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE PRODUCT.  

This lye does not meet the food codex! Meaning, it is NOT supposed to be used for German Pretzels or Lutefisk, or Olives or any other food means. I personally have no idea what the difference in food grade versus regular lye is, but I was told this is not the stuff needed for these purposes and we do not sell our products for food means.
