Surfactants

A surfactant, or surface acting agent, is a compound which has the ability to lower the surface tension when placed into a solution of oil and water.  In cosmetics we use surfactants for cleaning and foaming action, emulsification, solubilization, conditioning and for other uses such as product stability.  Surfactants are most commonly found in products such as bubble bath, body wash and shampoos. They are also used in advanced emulsification systems that require more than one emulsifier, or as a solubilizer in products where we want a clear finished product.

Surfactants have a bad reputation in the cosmetics industry due to the fact that most contain sulfates, however at Creations from Eden, we provide sulfate-free, environmentally friendly and gentle surfactants to our customers for their formulation requirements.
